E-mail creation is canceled

An email is not created by Serienmail if it has been changed between creation and sending.

Serienmail does not create any further emails if an email has been subsequently changed.

This is a security feature to ensure that no emails are sent that have been changed in an uncontrolled manner.

Known causes of this problem are:

• Sending via an IMAP mailbox
• Other add-ins that change the emails

Error message

The process cannot be executed because the message has been changed.

IMAP Mailbox

Check whether you send e-mails via IMAP. In Outlook, click on File and check whether the following entry is visible.

If the entry IMAP/SMTP appears under Account information, proceed as follows to create and then send the e-mails.

Set Outlook offline

Please set Outlook offline.

1. To do this, click on the Send/Receive tab in the ribbon.
2. Then click once on the Work Offline button on the far right.

You can recognize that Outlook is in offline mode by the changed Outlook icon in the taskbar.

Now create your mail merge. Outlook will not send the e-mails, but will place them in the Outbox folder. When all e-mails have been created, go back to the Send/Receive tab. Click the Work Offline button again. After a while, Outlook will automatically start sending the e-mails one after the other.

Add-ins change the e-mails

If you are not using an IMAP mailbox and you still receive the message that the e-mails cannot be sent, there are the following possibilities:

• You set Outlook Offline – as described above.
• You deactivate all add-ins except Serienmail.

Deactivating add-ins

Before you start disabling add-ins, document which add-ins are enabled on your PC. Then proceed as follows:

1. Open the dialog for managing add-ins using the command File, Options, Add-Ins. Click the Go button next to Manage.

2. The following window will open. This shows which add-ins are activated.
3. Then deactivate all add-ins except Serienmail.

4. Start the creation of the mail merge and check whether the mail merge is now sent.
5. If this is the case, then activate one add-in after the other and start sending the mail merge to find out which add-in modifies the e-mails and thus prevents sending.
6. Once you have found out which add-in is blocking the sending of serial mails, this add-in should then be temporarily deactivated for sending serial mails.

The following add-ins are known to us to prevent the sending of serial mails with the above error message:

• Virus scanner
• Acrobat PDF-Maker
• Adobe Document Cloud
• Evernote
